Meet the Team: Lydia Torres

Lydia Torres is the newest addition to the Literacy CNY team, joining in March 2022 as the organization’s first Digital Literacy Coordinator. After growing up in Greece and Hilton, NY, Lydia moved to Syracuse to attend SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry, earning a degree in Environmental Studies. Discovering a love of the city, she remained at SUNY ESF, working in the F. Franklin Moon Library, where she found herself frequently assisting non-traditional students, returning to college later in life, navigate new digital resources that the college offered.

After years living in Syracuse, Lydia is excited to see the reinvestment in the city, reconnected neighborhoods, and improved educational outcomes. She does enjoy venturing outside the city; favoring Green Lakes and Clark’s Reservation, as well as foraging for mushrooms in Central New York’s many parks. Lydia lives in Westside with her dog, Coba.
